This feature documentary recently released is about the life and work of Jane Goodall, (the chimp lady)
Using archival footage and family photos from her childhood and teen years in England and her first forays into the forests of GombeStreamNational Park, Knauer establishes Jane's joyful, playful personality.
Her love of animals began early, when her father gave her a toy stuffed monkey named Jubilee. She still carries Jubilee with her today; the toy has been held by Angelina Jolie and Kofe Annan, and touched by the countless children whose lives have been touched by Dr. Goodall.
There is footage of a young Jane with the chimpanzees and of the more mature Dr. Goodall again sitting among them. Her relationship with the chimpanzees then and now is awesome. In on camera interviews, she speaks about their personalities, and about how she eventually transformed her early observations and notes into the formal scientific studies for which she is so highly acclaimed, and then spread her knowledge through writing books, and to transform her love of chimpanzees and her commitment to protect them and their habitat into a broader concern for the future of all living creatures, including the human species, and the health of the planet we inhabit.

New Zealand 2009, 75mins PG Director: Florian Habicht
Florian Habicht describes his latest exposé of the recreational habits of Northlanders as a 'sequel of sorts' to his classic 'Kaikohe Demolition'. Claimed to be the largest surfcasting event in the world, the annual Ninety Mile Beach Red Snapper Classic attracts hundreds of anglers for five days every February to compete for prizes in excess of $250,000, with the biggest snapper taking out a serious $50,000. Habicht joins them, camera in hand, full of questions about what they might be thinking as they engage in this elemental and apparently very relaxing pursuit. How will they spend the prize money? Shot by Napier-based Cloud Nine Films, this recently released, award-winning documentary is the story of Peter and Colleen Karena. They are in their early 30?s. They have six children and 50 horses. ?This Way of Life? is a film about freedom. It is about risk and wilderness and how one family chooses to live more connected to wild nature than the shiny life of the mall. The film captures a way of life and a consciousness that has almost disappeared, a life where self-sufficiency is central, where time is not money, it encompasses an understanding of a tangible relationship with nature and natural morality - unframed by regulation or compromise. With lectures and slideshows, comments from pupils past and present we are privileged to observe the interaction and atmosphere created by one of the most inspiration teachers of art. For many years Robin Child had flatly refused to be filmed by several Television companies but Helena Wakefield who had attended many of Robin Child's courses managed to persuade him to let Robin Kewell in with his cameras to record a week of dynamism and energy from a teacher who provokes and praises all in the same breath.
This film was selected to represent Cornwall at the Celtic Film Festival in feature documentaries. Robin Kewell will present the film and tell some stories from behind the lens and show some examples of people's work.
