Piha CoastCare is very excited that the Dunes Trust Seminar, about the larger offshore forces affecting our beaches and the basics of dune processes, is going to be brought to Piha on the Tuesday evening prior to NZ Dunes Trust Conference.in March 2009
Dunes: "Buffer between the Land and Sea"
With the frequency and ferocity of storms projected to increase, and a possible sea level rise, dune systems will continue to be vulnerable. It's not all bad news though - as a community we have the power to protect and restore Piha's dunes. The free seminar, designed to empower coastal communities to restore their local dunes, will be held at Piha SLSC on the evening of 17th March 09 starting with a light meal.
Guest speakers are national experts on sand dunes, including Jim Dahm, Dr David Bergin, Harley Spence and Dunes Trust Chairperson Mark Dean.
